Kids Pictures

Last week I had the kids pictures taken by my cousin who is starting up her own photography business in Topeka.   Here is a link to her blog if you want to check out a sneak peek of our photos...

She once again did a wonderful job with my kids.  She came to my house and it was just really nice and relaxed.  When I look at these pictures I literally get tears in my eyes because I can't believe these are my kids, they look so happy.  Sometimes I feel that I spend the whole day correcting and disciplining and I worry so much that they aren't going to be happy people because of it.  I am really a worry wart, but as a mom it was so refreshing to see these shots...  my girls not only love each other but I can see a true friendship between them and they just adore their little "buddy" (this is what they call Walter).
Enjoy!

St. Paddy's Day!

Every year (for the last couple of years) for St. Patrick's Day we head to Topeka.  My mom's side of the family organizes a float and we get to ride on it in the parade.  Last year we were rained out, but this year was not only beautiful weather, but it was also spring break for many so there were tons of people there.  It was a great day with nieces, nephews, uncles, aunts, cousins,... and the list goes on and on.  My mom is one of twelve so you can imagine the amount of people there.  My kids loved the people watching and eating all of the candy that we were handing out. We also loved getting to see everyone and can't wait to do it again next year:)

Third Time is a Charm...

So yesterday while Isabella was a preschool I was on the phone when I heard lots of giggling and laughing when I hear this I always grab my camera because I don't want to miss a thing.  This is what I walked in on...

Yes, those are glitter hearts on those sweet cheeks
and yes, this is the little one that made it happen:)

Not only was he covered in stickers but the part I didn't get a picture of is that he was chewing on a crayon when I walked into the room as well.  I say third time is a charm because there is no way in h@#$ that I would have walked into a scene like this with my first child and laughed, I would have probably screamed, ripped the stickers off, and rinsed her mouth of any crayon that might have broken off.  Why are we so different with our first???  I only wish I could have been this relaxed with her as well but I guess this is just how some of us are wired.

These two are going to be double trouble I already predict.  They are only eighteen months apart and although they seem to be in such different stages right now I swear they are already planning all sorts of mischief for me:)

Red Envelope

A friend of mine had this on her blog and I thought it was a fabulous idea and something I feel very strongly about so I wanted to share.  Please read and follow through.  Let's drown them with red envelopes!
I am passing this along because I thought perhaps you would like to participate in Red Envelope Day on March 31, 2009.  Get a red envelope, on the front address it to:

President Barack Obama
The White House
1600 Pennsylvania Ave. NW
Washington, D.C. 20500

On the back write the following message:

This envelope represents one child who died because of an abortion.  It is empty because the life that was taken is now unable to be part of our world.

We will mail the envelopes on March 31, 2009.  Forward this event to every one of your friends who you think would send one too.  I wish we could send 50 million red envelopes, one for every child who died (in the U.S.) before having a chance to live.  It may seem that those who believe abortion is wrong are in a minority.  It may seem like we have no voice and it's shameful to even bring it up.  Let us show our President and the world that the voices of those of us who do not believe in abortion IS acceptable and are not silent and must be heard.  Barack Obama spoke at a Planned Parenthood Action Fund event, uttering the now infamous line, "Well, the first thing I'd do as president is, is sign the Freedom of Choice Act [Applause] That's the first thing I'd do. "  An empty red envelope will send a message to President Barack Obama that there is moral outrage in this country over this issue =, The Freedom of Choice Act, which will essentially undo every law currently in place to limit abortion in the U.S...(i.e., parental consent laws, parental notification, waiting periods, prohibition of transporting a minor across state lines to obtain an abortion, etc.)  It is a quiet, yet clear message of protest.
I am usually not political here but just wanted to share...

The Bears are Coming!!!!

Kyle got out his hiking gear from this "hiking" days over the weekend just to take a look at it.  This is something that he really hasn't been able to enjoy since college.  We had some great trips to the mountains but once med school started he just hasn't found any time to get back to it.  He set up the tent yesterday for the girls to play around in and he has promised them a camping trip soon.  They were so excited.  They played all afternoon in it and pretended like the bears were coming to get them!!!
We are excited at the thought of getting to do these trips with our kids someday, we just hope that they enjoy as much as we do:)

Yummy Hubby!!

Okay, Kyle is going to freak when he reads this post about him but I just couldn't resist!  I finally got my rebate check from Costco and I was able to go buy a new camera.  As mentioned in previous posts, our camera has been broken for about six months and thankfully my mom has been letting me use her camera.  I am so excited to finally have one that is nice and I just love it!
I have been taking random pictures and I shot this one of Kyle.  He will be 30 years old on Wednesday and I am so excited for his birthday (a lot more than he is) because he will finally be 30 just like me!  I just love this picture of him with his handsome blue eyes!  I think he is just yummy!  You just keep getting better with age honey, I love you!

Ready for Spring!

Walter waving the Rock Chalk flag
Isabella's signature pose!
Margaret's signature smile:)
Little old man pants...
Hey, are you talking about me?

We have spent the last week being sick!  Everyone here has now had it.  Kyle was the first, he came down with a high fever and a very congested nose.  Margaret and Walter were the next ones to get it and we were really able to see if the tubes in her ears were going to work.  I got it over the weekend and then Isabella's fever came yesterday.  We literally have not gone anywhere because it is the kind of sickness that just makes you want to lay on the couch with a cozy blanket.  While I have been home I have been going through closets trying to clear out clothes that are too small and stocking them with clothes that can be worn for spring.  Is it too early?  I am probably jinxing us by jumping the gun here but boy are we ready to open up the windows and get all of the germs out!
I have had a lot of fun once again pulling out clothes for Margaret that were once worn by her big sis Isabella.  Each little piece brings back so many memories for me.  She must have been on a dress wearing spree because I think she has about thirty dresses for summertime!  It is amazing to me the things that can get accomplished when you have no where you have to be at any certain time.  Although I hate it when we are all sick I have kind of enjoyed the time just being at home with the kiddos and having nothing that I had to go do.  Here are just some random shots of the kids this week around the house...
